"She's Crafty...

She gets around, she's crafty, she's always down." Taking a line from one of my favorite Beastie Boys songs this weekend, I got a little crafty. As in sewing machine kind of crafty. Crazy right? I also started off my weekend of craft by helping Molly can some tomatoes. There's a first time for everything!

Canning tomatoes to be quite honest, is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. But it certainly couldn't have been done without Kristal's awesome Ball Blue Book of preserving. (Yes, I just used blue and ball in the same phrase and it DID have a literal interpretation - hehehe). Molly is still too afraid that she might kill people with terrible food bourne illnesses, so I didn't get any canned tomatoes myself, but I did get a surprise of some homemade tomato sauce and some applesauce later on in the weekend.
Onto the sewing though. I've had two projects that I've been meaning to work on. One of which, Brad has been bugging me for weeks to do. You see, our silly kitty Cleo (Odie) has a certain toy we call the "fuzzy disc." She loves it. She carries it around at night, meowing, meowing, all the while, content as could be. Problem is, I can't remember where in the hell I bought the thing. I've checked every pet store I've ever been in near and far, and nobody, just nobody, seems to have them any longer. Which would be all fine and dandy, if Odie didn't eat her toys. So what was once a fuzzy disc, got reduced to a pile of stretched out, kitty saliva disintegrated scraps. Gross. Hence, Brad bugging me to make her some more. So fine I relented. Once again, it actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to get it all done.

Finally, as a little teaser about my upcoming Halloween costume for The Bang, I decided I needed to make myself a purse. Thanks to my sister Claudia for free-handing me a pattern, as I think the strawberry turned out really true to shape. Now I've just got to sew on some embelishments, and I'm good to go. Soooooooo cute!
