Ain’t no party like a SatC party, cause a SatC party has cosmo’s!

I’m so excited for the Sex and the City movie on Friday. I’ll be grabbing some cosmo’s early, and seeing the movie later with the girls. Thanks to Stephanie who so graciously offered to pick up tickets over her lunch hour. Your first cosmo is on me lady!

I’m also feeling pretty creative at the moment. I got a brilliant idea in the middle of the night last night to make my dad a “learning to fly” cd for his trips back and forth to Chicago during flight training. Obviously, the title track will be Tom Petty’s Learning to Fly. I got to thinking (in my late night stupor), just how emotional music really is. It’s probably why I like it so much. Aren’t there certain songs for you, that as soon as you hear them on the radio/your ipod/whatever, you’re instantly transformed to a different time and place in your mind?

I have songs for great and confusing times in my life (Pete Yorn – Strange Condition/Simonize), songs that make me really sentimental (Loggins & Messina – House in Pooh Corner), songs that remind me of drunken college frat parties (Nelly – Ride wit Me), songs that make me cry (Modest Mouse – Missed the Boat), songs for road trips (Shania Twain – Man I Feel Like a Woman), songs that instantly transform me into happy (Granian – Immune), and songs for just about most things that a girl can go through in her life. In fact, I should make a “Times in my Life” compilation, and think I shall. Tell me about your emotions evoked by music, and think about creating a compilation of your own. Another creative project; brought to you by blogging.

I love cd mixes! :) And I have two for your dad's cd off the top of my head (however girly) -- "Airplane" by Indigo Girls, and ".something. to Fly" by the Dixie Chicks. Hee hee! I made Birgit a hiking playlist once, and I found a lot of cool, theme tracks to download on iTunes by searching words like "hike" and "camp."

ALSO.... A few years ago, a few of us girls made CDs for each other for Xmas of our top 10 to 20 songs of all time. Mine is totally like a "Time of My Life" playlist for me. I visit it often. You should def make one :)

Did you have any doubt I would have some ranty comment to offer? hahahaha

Oh! Alice in Chains (especially Down in a Hole, ooh la la) instantly takes me back to my bedroom, senior year of high school, middle of the night, John Avina (who played their unplugged album every time he sneaked into my bedroom, senior year, middle of the night). Thanks for inspiring me to make my own life compilation, which shall include a little Metallica, a little Zombie, and maybe even a little Shakira.

Oh, and my Arizona playlist was grrreat! I think there was some "Fly Me Away" action by Goldfrapp, but that's not a very manly song.
