Hot Ladies in Hotlanta

As part of my birthday celebration this year, I spent a long weekend with some of my High School pals (who were also all turning 30) in the city of Atlanta. Coming from pretty different locations (Chicago, Germany, Detroit, etc); we wanted a place that was a direct flight for all of us. Hotlanta it was! Most of the six of us arrived early in the evening on Thursday, and sneaky Liz surprised us with a cake in our hotel!

Our hotel by the way, was lovely. It was pretty booked up because of the Georgia Marathon on Saturday, so we couldn't get adjoining rooms, but the ones we got sure were perfect! The Ellis even offered a complimentary "wine down" every evening from 5:30-6:30, which we definitely took advantage of.
Plans for the weekend consisted of loads of girl time. Of course we checked out the Georgia Aquarium, the Coca-Cola museum, and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, but mostly we wanted to wander around the streets, eat good food, share a lot of laughs and spend some quality time together before we all turned into old cougars. Thankfully, we were able to accomplish all that. We even squeezed in reservations at the Woodfire Grill, run by none other than Kevin red-beard from Top Chef season 4! I strong-armed the other ladies into ordering the five course tasting menu, and I'm here to tell you, it was nothing short of amazing. I even broke my foie gras, offal, and pork belly cherries.

Cheers to our 30's @ Woodfire Grill
It seems like the weekend was over in a flash because of all the fun we were having, but I'm forever grateful that I got to spend one last good weekend with the ladies before the inevitable "baby" phase of our lives. A special appreciation goes out to Katie for the earplugs and beauty mask, and to Erin for the cute goodie bags full of German candy. You ladies really know how to make a weekend fit for queens!
