My MoMA, yo MoMA

Continuing on with crossing some things off my list before starting work on Monday, today I braved Manhattan and got myself to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
The feature I was really interested in was Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen. It didn't disappoint! I was fascinated by all the old time war posters on rationing and vermin prevention. Also fun, was seeing a display of tupperware I remember from my childhood. Oh tupperware, how I love you so.
After the kitchen exhibit, I continued on with the remaining 4 floors of the museum. I saw a few cool things like this wall of products from yesteryear, the classic warhol soup cans, and this fun depiction of a woman upholding the home. I liked the symbolism a lot.
The views of surrounding neighborhoods in Manhattan from the MoMA aren't bad either. Neither was the fun view of some enclosed staircases, and finally, some actual modern art!
Turns out though, that I'm not as big a fan of the MoMA as I had thought I would be. See, I'm really not all that enamored with Rothko, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh and the like. There's nothing wrong with them per say, and I definitely prefer modern art over all other kinds of art. Today I just felt like I was missing a lot of pieces with clean lines and bold colors. Maybe I was disappointed because I had hoped MoMA would be more like the Pompideu in Paris, which I absolutely love, love, loved. I just didn't find inspiration in the MoMA collections like I did at the Pompideu. Am I destroyed forever?? Only time will tell. But I did have a lovely afternoon viewing the collections (and the gift shop!), and I will certainly be back. Having a free unlimited membership through September thanks to one of the Mister's co-workers doesn't impact that decision at all either, I swear!
