I mentioned in my last post something about taking another 5,000 steps. What was that all about? Well, recently I've decided to undertake a new approach to getting healthy. The bug bit me about 6 weeks back after I noticed my friend Carly wearing a step counter. I was intrigued. Why? What for? How long have you been wearing this? (Apparently a lot longer than I had ever noticed!) Carly alluded to some articles she's read about how people who take 10,000 steps/day are just as physically fit as those who workout on a regular regimen. While I have been doing more running lately, I'm still not exactly the "work out" type. So with the addition of the new treadmill, combined with the running I'm already working on, I decided this step idea just sounded like something I should do. Especially since step counters are ridiculously cheap. So I ordered myself up this one here, and off I went.
I started about 3 weeks ago. At first, it was a rude wake up call to just how inactive I was. On a typical day without specifically working out, I was only getting between 3,000 and 5,000 steps. Yikes! So that needed to change ASAP. I started incorporating the runs, parking my car in the farther parking spots, taking the stairs when available, and just generally trying to move more. With these additions, I'm up now to anywhere between 7,000 and 12,000 steps per day. It obviously hasn't been that long to notice major improvements, but I am feeling better, and am interested in keeping this up through the upcoming holiday season. Can stepping alone help me towards my goals for the end of the year? Guess we'll find out. For now, gotta keep moving. And with that, I'm off to watch 90New10 while I burn those calories.

This is such a good idea! I need to get my hands on one of those counters. What we really need to get are jobs where we're outside all day rather than behind a desk...we'd be hot mamas. :) Wait...you're already smokin'!
