The Crib

Hello, and welcome to our new crib! I've posted here the quick and dirty of the place, but more photos will be coming once our stuff gets delivered and the apartment doesn't feel quite so empty. I hope all our stuff will fit!
First up, our building
Our building is pretty new, cool and modern. There's a roof deck up top, which I'll get to in a later post. A pediatric office and a woman's doctor's office sit on the main floor of our building, in addition to our 24 hour doorman, mailboxes and gym. Here's the view from the main floor elevator bank.

You head up to our floor, and here's the view of the hallways. There's also a trash/refuse room, where our garbage heads down a shoot, and our recyclables head into a blue bin. So nice not to have to take it out to the curb!
Floor play-by-play
Now, welcome to our apartment!
You enter the apartment to a small foyer, then there's a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom to the left, followed by a bedroom and bathroom on the right.

In general, we're REALLY pleased with the place. I will totally admit that it was stinking FILTHY when we moved in, and I spent literally two days cleaning the place from top to bottom. Now the kitchen shines. :-) It's hard to tell whether the people who lived here before us were slobs, or if NY just makes everything dirty. I do know that it's taking me some time to get used to the fact that if I wear flip flops out, I have to wash my feet at least 3 times a day due to all the street grime. Such is city life!

Things we love, love, love about the new place:
1) Floor to ceiling windows are seriously the best
2) Everything is white! Old house beige/almond fixtures and appliances, I do not miss you one bit.

Things we're not so keen on yet:
1) It's sooooo loud in here when the air conditioner is on! If we skype you and it sounds like we have jet engines in our apartment, you'll know why. :-)
2) The morning sun in the bedroom is intense. That'll take some getting used to. And some curtains.
